Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join our team. The successful candidate will have strong skills and experience in acute hospital settings.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide a high quality professional occupational therapy service to inpatients, day care and outpatients at through hands-on delivery of care, plus demonstration and education as appropriate.
Develop a shared sense of commitment and participation among staff in the development of the occupational therapy service.
Participate in the preparation of plans for the service and monitor and report on their implementation as required.
Participate and co-operate with any internal or external evaluation of the service.
Maintain the confidentiality and integrity of patient records in line with hospital policy.
Prepare annual financial estimates in respect of staffing including education and training needs.
Participate in the overall financial planning of the service including the negotiation of resources and the assessment of priorities in pay and non-pay expenditure.
Ensure the modern standards of clinical care are in operation and that regular monitoring is undertaken.
Implement a policy on complaints and patient services.
Maintain good collaborative working relationships and communications with appropriate statutory, professional and voluntary organizations responsible for and/or participating in health care.
Ensure adherence to all codes and guidelines relating to professional practice including the maintenance of Quality Assurance standards.
Monitor research and new developments. Initiate, facilitate and take part in relevant research and promote awareness of ongoing and current research.
Keep up to date with the latest development in occupational therapy using current research to enhance the delivery of patient care.
Comply with Health & Safety Regulations, ensuring safe working practices and a safe working environment.
Contribute to the development of efficient pathways of care in accordance with current best practice and national guidelines.
Essential Qualifications
BSc (Occupational Therapy) or equivalent recognized and validated qualification in Occupational Therapy.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in Oncology & Palliative care, Elderly Care, Rheumatology, Hand Therapy, Acute Medical Care in an acute hospital setting.

Experience in an acute setting or within the specialities outlined above.
Evidence of the ability to achieve results through effective collaboration in a complex environment
Experience working as part of an interdisciplinary team.
