TTM Healthcare are currently seeking a Clinical Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to come and join Ireland’s Largest Oncology Network Teams on a Full time Permanent Basis. If you are a Senior SLT ready to take that next step, then we want to hear from you. The primary patient groups requiring SLT services include those with cancers related to the head and neck, brain and CNS, lung, upper GI, and late-stage cancer diagnoses. There is significant potential to further develop SLT services, such as Videofluoroscopy. This position is based in Dublin 6, and the successful candidate’s main responsibility is to deliver SLT services at this site. This post is based in the Speech & Language Therapy department, which offers a service to both in-patients and out-patients undergoing or recovering from radical or palliative cancer treatments Key responsibilities:

  • To play a lead role in the ongoing development of a specialised Speech & Language Therapy service to the patients who are undergoing or recovering from either radical or palliative radiotherapy and/or chemotherapy or receiving care
  • To assess the needs of this patient group and develop clinical services as appropriate.
  • To implement best practice in the area of Speech & Language Therapy in radiation oncology
  • Develop policies, protocols and guidelines in conjunction with the MDT.
  • To act as an advanced clinical and educational resource within the Speech & Language Therapy department and MDT.
  • To participate in research projects as appropriate.

Key Requirements:

  • CORU Registered as a SLT
  • 5 Years Post graduate experience of which 4 years are full time in dysphagia
  • Evidence of post-graduate clinical education in dysphagia, instrumental swallow assessment and oncology.
  • Experience of teaching and mentoring students, staff, and senior grade therapists
  • Experience in clinical research and quality improvement initiatives
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of the specific early and late treatment effects of (chemo)radiotherapy on eating, drinking and swallowing, voice, speech, communication and the impact for the oncology patient.
  • Deemed competent and independent in videofluoroscopy delivery and analysis
  • Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team
